We are going to be reviewing club management software service iCrew with its founder, Kevin Goyena and avid user Mount Baker Crew Head Coach, Helen Tilghman.
I began rowing as a junior in 2003 and continued on to row four years at the University of Washington. After graduating, I earned my Masters in Education and started my collegiate coaching career at Seattle University. I then moved on to coach at the University of Dayton and Michigan State University before returning home to Seattle. I am now the Director of Rowing and Varsity Women’s Head Coach at Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center. I also worked with the University of Washington’s Center for Leadership in Athletics doing research and development around coaching education.
I’m 56 and I started rowing with my partner in summer of 2015 with Mt. Baker Crew in Seattle, WA and fell in love with the sport very quickly. I’ve been in software development for about 35 years and immediately recognized a need for a system to help better organize and manage our crew, which led to the design and development of iCrew. I’m also a licensed Show Jumping judge for the US Equestrian Federation, something I got into years ago and another area where I developed software which happens to be quite popular in Australia.
