The Port of London Authority has produced some water safety posters for clubs to download, print and use around their boathouse. Thanks to Tony Reynolds for advising us of this link.
Failing to keep a proper lookout is one of the most dangerous things any navigator can do. That’s why we developed a poster campaign with the Thames Regional Rowing Council (TRRC) to highlight the need for vigilance, whatever man powered craft you’re in.
The campaign is centred on three posters targeting single sculls, quads or eights, designed by rower and TRRC-member, Neil Pickford that have been distributed to rowing clubs along the upper tidal Thames.
More information and advice on rowing safely on the Thames can be found on our dedicated recreational website: www.boatingonthethames.co.uk
3 posters
- Don’t race head on into danger
- Don’t ignore the hazards
- Don’t take a crash course in Bad Navigation
Thanks to Neil Pickford (who coincidentally also designed the boat bag measurement chart which we use for 1x and 2x boat bags). I’m guessing he took the Lookout image from the Boat Race crash with the PLA launch on the night before the race in 2003.
Great work.
