We got this question two weeks ago from a Deborah in London.

Tom, are there exercises available, that simulate our rowing stroke? I am not an erg rower and look for additional possibilities to strengthen my body.

Deborah, thank you for your question. We have several ways to strengthen our body at home or in a gym. And this can be done without weightlifting and ergs.

Here is a great video: Something brand new at Rowperfect and fully designed for rowers. Pilates exercises for Rowers. We will issue 2 or 3 video session which leads you through the entire stroke. This is session one.

Pilates for Rowers – The recovery and catch

We offer a training for rowers that can be done everywhere and without any preparation. You just need a mat. No reformer, no black roll or pilates roll or weights. Just your mat.

We start with session one (catch). More video sessions will lead us through our entire stroke – Catch, Drive and Finish and Recovery.

Rosana, a competitive Master Rower and Pilates Coach of our Masters FB-Group has developed several Pilates sessions for us rowers. Have a look.

The Catch

Today’s session has the focus on stability, balance and flexibility: All we need during Recovery and Catch. Have a look.

If you are interested in a personal training which combines the benefits of rowing and pilates, let us know. Rosana would be happy to answer questions. Send us an email. We will pass your request to her.
