Storming start from New Zealand and Italy in this first semi-final of LM2x. The Greeks and Italians are nosing in front and and Denmark are second at 500m behind Italy but its fractions of a second. Denmark press on hard with their dynamic rhythm out from the 500m marker and have a third of a length over the four following crews Germany, New Zealand and Greece all in second place. At half way the Danes half a length over New Zealand and Germany in second place. Greece dropping back to fourth place. Goodness they have fast catches in the Danish crew. Still holding their lead but Germany are now clearly in second over New Zealand as they approach 1500m. Germany challenging hard and the kiwis at a lower stroke rate three feet ahed of Germany in third place. Now the race develops, and Denmark continue to lead and nudge out towards clear water over the kiwis their bouncing rhythm is just motoring their boat away from the following pack. But these three crews are well in front of the rest. On the line Denark are 1.5 lengths ahead of New Zealand second, Germany third.
Semi Final 2: Cuba, Norway, Great Britain, France, Portugal, Hungary. French doble looking good and just shade behind Britain at half way. Cuba looking good in lane one. They’ve got a canvas ove the French crew. coming down to the line half a length in front French scrapping hard and Lane five Portugal sneak the third qualifying spot.
