Show Notes:
University of Waterloo Spine Biomechanics Laboratory
Dr. McGill’s 3 textbooks are Low Back Disorders: Evidence Based Prevention and Rehabilitation, Ultimate Back Fitness and Performance and his newest book is Back Mechanic. If you are interested in Dr. McGill’s work but unsure of which book to begin with let me take a moment to tell you a little about each one.
The first book, “Low Back Disorders: Evidence Based Prevention and Rehabilitation” was written for clinicians to guide their decision process when prescribing prevention and rehabilitation approaches.
The second textbook, “Ultimate Back Fitness and Performance” was written for trainers, coaches, athletes, and those interested in enhancing performance of their back while minimizing any loss of resilience.
Dr. McGill has completed the knowledge transfer process with his 3rd and newest book, “Back Mechanic” which targeted the lay public with back pain. “Back Mechanic” is a step-by-step guide to empower the reader to become their own best advocate to get rid of their pain. Rich illustrations guide the process. This book is about learning your unique pain triggers and how to avoid them, as well as a comprehensive guide to each set of corrective exercises that will adjust your movement patterns and build your tolerance and strength.
I highly recommend all of Dr. McGill’s work and currently own both Ultimate Back Fitness and Performance and Back Mechanic. Dr. McGill’s methods have helped me with my athletes and clients to build better performance and injury resilience.
