  1. Get a programme
  2. Focus on technique – erg is not the same as a rowing boat
  3. Find the drag factor which works for you (rule of thumb is juniors on 3, womens on 4 and men on 5)
  4. Train with someone both faster and slower than you
  5. Consistency in training
