It’s the start of the Gig Racing Season and you are both loving and hating it.

Why?  Well the strain on your body is tough – blisters, sore fingers, “gigger’s arse” and other ailments are happening and you probably wish they’d go away.

We can’t promise a magic wand but Rowperfect has a bunch of helpful products which could ease your way into the season.

What cures Gig Arse?

We have all had the symptoms – that rubbed raw patch on your “tailbone” where the skin is removed after rowing…. you jump in the shower and BOY does it hurt!

Is there a cure?  Well we hope so – the Rowers Rub product is a salve which can help prevent chafing.  And if you get Gigger’s Bum we have a suggestion.

The treatment is based around careful application of micropore tape.  Tear a short strip and bond it onto the skin at least an hour before you row so it has a chance to stick on firmly.  By the way, it’s incredibly hard to stick tape onto your own derriere – try looking in a mirror backwards or looking upwards back between your legs.  Just like Twister!  So ask a friend if you need help!

When a ‘tradition’ changes

Cornish Gigs don’t use amplification in racing – but what’s stopping you making a change for your training?  We have pulled together a bundle of useful electronics which ca help you work out how fast you’re going and what cadence / rating gives you the best boat speed.  Click on the picture to find out more.
