A Rowperfect reader showed us this email he sent to his high school rowing squads.
Here is an excellent website that you should subscribe to (for free) which has very useful articles and podcasts and things of interest in the rowing world eg Blister care, technique tips, nutrition, recovery etc. They send out a regular newsletter with the latest information.
One of the easiest ways to get good technique in your head before training is to watch the best in the world in action. There are many videos on Youtube but I recommend the videos below. It is good to watch races from the World Champs or the Olympics, you can then picture what good rowing looks like when you are doing it yourself.
Year 11, 10, 9 rowing videos
This video makes it look like she is doing it easy but this rower is putting down serious power. Don’t be fooled into thinking she is not pulling. She is committing fully to each stroke.
Year 8, 7 rowing videos
There is a lot to take in with this video so just watch it in small chunks if you need to.
