Today we’ll take a look at two more rowers immortalised in bronze. The first is the Spirit of St Catharines in Ontario, Canada adjacent to the site of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta venue, Martindale Pond.
This travel website describes it as
Martindale Pond right next to Port Dalhousie is the site of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. This competition was founded in 1880. If you’re a rowing fan, this is the place to be in August. This monument honours the rowers.
And now Sir Steve Redgrave in his home town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Solo this time and sporting all five of his Olympic gold medals (someone forgot the bronze from LA). More detail on the Sporting Statues project.
